Harlequins have announced the arrival of Italian prop Silvia Turani from Exeter Chiefs.

Turani discovered rugby whilst on exchange at the University of Parma in Spain, and upon her return joined Rugby Colorno in 2016. Turani made her Italy debut in 2017 and has amassed a total of 25 appearances for her country as well as representing the Barbarians in 2019.

In 2022, Turani made the move to the Premier 15s, joining Exeter Chiefs, where she made 17 appearances during her first season with the Club.

Commenting on her signing, Turani said: “I would like to thank Exeter for the last season and for the amazing experience. I loved the people, the club and the place. Continuing my presence in the PRW is a source of great satisfaction for me, even more so being able to do it with one of the best and most historic English Clubs. The professionalism of the staff has already impressed me. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and can’t wait to meet my new teammates. A presto!”

Technical Director Brent Janse van Rensburg said: “Silvia is a great person who is going to bring lots of positive energy and professionalism into this group. On the pitch she is a good scrummager and provides intensity in defence, getting off the line and making hits when it really matters. She had a strong season for both Exeter and Italy, and we’re looking forward to seeing how she continues to develop in a Quins shirt and taking her game to the next level.”

With thanks to Harlequins
