Harlequins Women’s Head Coach Amy Turner has named the matchday 23 to host Gloucester Hartpury in the Premiership Cup at Cobham RFC this Saturday.
Kicking off at 14:30, this fixture will be free entry to all as Turner takes charge of her first home match at the Club. Number eight Emily Robinson and fullback Emily Scott will lead the side as co-captains.
A new milestone will be made today as prop Chloe Edwards becomes the first Women’s player to reach 90 appearances in the Famous Quarters. Having been part of the team since its inception in 2017, the front row will start at tighthead this Saturday, joined in the front row by hooker by Davinia Catlin and loosehead prop Hannah Duffy.
Swedish international Tove Viksten forms a second row partnership with Lauren Brooks, while a backrow combination of Bethan Dainton, Amelia Harper and Emily Robinson completes the pack.
Having scored a try on the wing last weekend, Freya Aucken swaps to her favoured position at scrum-half to form a halfback partnership with Ellie Green.
Both returning from injury last week, Beth Blacklock and Georgia Comerford form the midfield, with Izzy Mayhew and Jade Mullen starting on the left and right wings respectively. Emily Scott completes the starting XV at fullback.
Two new arrivals will look to make their Harlequins debuts from the bench. On dual registration with Richmond, Tatum Gabriel (20) and Kaitlin Youens-Brown (22) will look to make appearances from the bench.
Commenting Turner said: “It was great to see eight debutants in the team last week as we travelled away to Worcester. There is a host of impressive young talent within this squad and we saw eight new names added to that list last Saturday.
“While last weekend was not the result we wanted, as a new group working together for the first time we learnt so much about both our players and each other as a new coaching group.
“Worcester gave us a physical battle with plenty of heart on show given the challenges they are currently facing. We will take performance and build on it this weekend against Gloucester.
“It’s exciting to head into our first home game of the season and we are delighted to be heading to Cobham RFC on Saturday. It’s vital that we continue to engage our audience and inspire the next generation of fans and potential Harlequins. It’s going to be a fantastic event for all involved.”
