Wasps secure Bonus point win against Gloucester Hartpury in the final Round of Allianz Cup with a hat trick from Christiana Balogun to seal the deal!
A strong start from Wasps’ pack securing a penalty and turning over Gloucester with the first scrum of the game, setting the tone for the rest.
It was Boatman who opened the game with an offload from Goulden to send her flying down the wing and over the line. A steal from Crake off a line out set Boatman up for her second.
Balogun’s first try came in the 14th minute, crashing over the line to put Wasps up by 21. Also to mention is Goulden’s flawless kicking record with this being her third conversion of five in the game and seventh conversion on the go for Wasps since her return.
Gloucester retaliated with two tries before the end of the half – the first from their no.10 and the second from their winger.
Wasps camped out in Gloucester’s half at the start of the second trying hard to convert valiant efforts into points- the pack dominating the scrum.
Balogun lead the hunt in the second half scoring two more tries to bring Wasps total to 35, Goulden’s 100% record securing the two conversions.
It was Gloucester who had the final say of the game with a fourth try from the forwards. But with no successful conversions, it was Wasps who had the edge to end the day!
With thanks to Wasps
