The PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award nominations for February have been announced, with six players from each of the top five professional leagues shortlisted for their outstanding performances in February.
Voting is now open for fans to pick one player from each league listed in the shortlists below to win the monthly awards; fans can do so on the 90min.com website.
In the WSL, Alex Greenwood (Manchester City), Ashleigh Neville (Tottenham Hotspur), Jess Carter, Millie Bright (Chelsea), Ashleigh Plumptre & Jemma Purfield (Leicester City) are the six players nominated for the February award.
Manchester derby star Greenwood and Tottenham mercurial Neville, both make the February WSL shortlist for their performances from the full-back positions.
To add to a WSL nominations list dominated by defenders, Chelsea duo Carter and Bright’s chemistry in the backline has helped their side to back-to-back clean sheets. At the same time, Leicester created breathing space between them and the relegation zone thanks to Plumptre and Purfield’s performances.
