Mullen names matchday squad for game against Wasps

  • +1

Harlequins Women’s Head Coach Gerard Mullen has named the matchday squad to travel to London rivals Wasps Women this weekend

In a replay of last season’s successful Allianz Premier 15s semi-final, Harlequins will face their closest neighbours in the third round of the 2021/22 Allianz Cup.

There are eight changes to the starting line-up that claimed victory over Gloucester-Hartpury in the Cup last weekend. Tighthead prop Chloe Edwards replaces Shaunagh Brown at tighthead prop, while a changed second row partnership sees Rosie Galligan and Fi Fletcher take up residence in the engine room.

Sarah Beckett retains her starting berth at number eight this week, joined in the back row by Tove Viksten and Emily Robinson in the six and seven jerseys respectfully.

There are four changes to the backline, with Emma Swords and Emily Scott reunited in the halfbacks, with Polly Roberts taking up a pot on the right wing, with Freya Aucken earning a start at fullback.

There are further changes on the bench this week, with Rosie Dobson joined by Eleanor Smales, Hannah Duffy, Lauren Brooks, Amelia Harper, Abbie Sarginson and Genevieve Moody.

Commenting, Mullen said: “We’re all looking forward to this weekend’s Allianz Cup Round 3 clash away at Wasps Women. We know it’s going to be tough encounter against a good Wasps side who will be looking to put us under pressure and win at home in front of their fans.

“I was proud of the team’s performance last week as we defeated Gloucester-Hartpury at Surrey Sports Park and I’ll be looking for the side we’ve put out to improve our processes.”
