Harlequins Women have announced the signing of Scotland international lock Sarah Bonar from Gloucester-Hartpury ahead of the 2021/22 Allianz Premier 15s season.
The Scotland international has featured 22 times for her country, including being involved in every game of the 2017 Six Nations as she made her first start against England at the Stoop.
The Aberdeen-born second row spent three years at fellow Allianz Premier 15s side Loughborough Lightning before joining Gloucester-Hartpury in the summer of 2020.
Before switching to rugby at university, Bonar was a promising rower who represented Great Britain Juniors and Under-23s.
After putting pen to paper, Bonar said: “I’m so excited to be joining Harlequins and I can’t wait to meet all the girls and get going! The setup that Quins have was a major attraction alongside the high level of coaching on offer.
“I can’t wait to be back playing rugby regularly and I feel with all the quality players in the current squad it will only improve me as a player which is something I’m really looking forward to. Ultimately, I would love to be included in the Scotland and RAF squad again and be able to cement my place in the near future.”
Head Coach Gerard Mullen added: “I’m thrilled to be able to welcome Sarah to Harlequins. She is an excellent second row with lots of international experience and I feel we can give her the opportunity to get back into the Scotland and RAF squad in the not-so-distant future.
“She is a threat at the set piece, and I know she will pass on her wealth of knowledge to the rest of the squad as we look to grow as a team heading into the new season.”
