Wasps to face Worcester in first fixture of 2021

  • +1

Allianz Premier 15s returns to Twyford Avenue for the first time in 2021, and to kick off the second half of the season Wasps welcome Worcester Warriors to the hive.

The competition had taken a break over the January period during the heightened pandemic state across the UK. Following a revision of Covid safe protocols and the introduction of testing across the league, the competition recommenced last weekend where Exeter Chiefs defeated Saracens- just the third team to beat the north London side alongside Harlequins and Wasps.

Before the break Wasps were on a winning streak, most recently beating Gloucester Hartpury 29-17. In their first meeting with Worcester Warriors this season, the team secured a 15 point win over the Midland side.

Mather has named her team for this weekend. In the forwards Mather names one change and invites Millar-Mills back to the field at no. 8 alongside the Irish duo of Molloy and McMahon by her side completing the back row.

With MacDonald out due to injury- Graham starts at nine alongside Jones at 10 and Abby Dow returns to 15.

And on the bench, West and Wong return to the match day squad as replacement front row and nine respectively.

Before the match the squads will take a minutes silence in Memory of Jessica Pardo-Alvarez, a young player from Worcester’s Centre of Excellence who sadly lost her life to terminal Brain Cancer earlier this year.

Please note that this fixture will be played behind closed doors with strictly no admittance for spectators in line with RFU and government guidelines.
