It’s sad news from the States that the second match between the Stars and the Stripes had to be called off. Two players tested positive for coronavirus during a screening the day before the match. It was due to take place in Glendale on 21 November as the climax of a nine-week training camp.
The first match on the 18th took place successfully: the Stripes winning 34-12.
Strict controls had been in force during the time the players had been together.
Between the two fixtures good news came from the American Women’s Sports Foundation of a grant of $10,000 to aid the Eagles on their way to the World Cup in New Zealand.
A new campaign set up this week, #ALLIN, aims too collect $600,000 to the same end.
The Eagles have been drawn in Pool B along with Canada, and the winners of the Europe and Asia qualifiers.
