The Football Association (FA) has confirmed that five fixtures have been selected for live broadcast over the opening two weekends of the 2020/2021 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season – with champions Chelsea, current Women’s FA Cup holders Manchester City, and newly promoted Aston Villa all featuring.
Villa, who won The FA Women’s Championship title last season, will open the campaign at Villa Park against Manchester City. The match will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2 on Saturday 5 September, kicking-off at 2.30pm.
Arsenal and Reading will open the following day’s fixtures in front of the BBC cameras on Sunday 6 September as their match at Meadow Park, Borehamwood, has been selected for the BBC Red Button. Kick-off has been scheduled for 12.30pm.
That same afternoon (Sunday 6 September), BT Sport 1 will feature Champions Chelsea, as they travel north to take on Manchester United. The match at Leigh Sports Village will kick off at 2.30pm.
The second weekend’s offerings before the international break will see West Ham United’s first fixture at their new home at Dagenham and Redbridge broadcast on BT Sport 1, as they host Arsenal on the evening of Saturday 12 august. The match will kick-off at 5.20pm.
The second live broadcast of the weekend sees Chelsea host Bristol City at Kingsmeadow the following day on Sunday 13 September. The match will be live on the BBC Red Button and kicks-off at 12.30pm.
Fans are reminded that Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixtures not selected for live broadcast will be streamed live on The FA Player.
In addition, selected FA Women’s Championship matches will also be streamed live throughout the season, with Liverpool’s opening match at home to Durham set to be streamed on the opening weekend on Sunday 6 September, and Sheffield United v Leicester City selected for week two on Sunday 13 September.
