Ahead of the team’s return to Stage 1 training, the Women’s team have made a temporary move to the Lensbury Hotel, located near Twickenham in SW London.
Harlequins Women have made the temporary switch from Surrey Sports Park in Guildford to the world-class training facility at the Lensbury Hotel. This move ensures an exclusive base that allows for both safe distancing throughout training, whilst also providing the best training environment and support infrastructure in line with the RFU’s Stage 1: Elite Sport Return to Training Guidance.
A regular training base for both England Rugby, the All Blacks and numerous other international teams, Harlequins Women have this week begun Stage 1 training which includes small group work on the pitch and in the gym, within safe distancing guidelines. The Lensbury allows the team to train exclusively on its rugby pitches and in its Performance Centre in a dedicated venue for Harlequins Women.
Commenting on the team’s temporary move, Head of Harlequins Women Rugby Programme Atlanta St John said: “The Lensbury is a phenomenal training location for us and we are very excited to be basing ourselves out of here for the coming months.
“With access to first rate facilities it will help our players return to rugby after a long period of being away from the Club and we are excited to welcome them back and begin our pre-season as we look ahead to a new era of the Premier 15s and the 2020/21 season, all in a new environment.
“The Hotel have been incredibly welcoming and supportive and on behalf of Harlequins I want to extend our thanks for their support and help to our staff to allow us to get set up and ready to welcome our players.”
