  • +1

Wasps Ladies secured their 4th victory of the season this weekend against Firwood Waterloo in the final round of Tyrrell’s Premier 15s before the international break. After last weeks hard loss to Loughborough Lightning, the team brought their their sting north- the hosts were denied of any points while Wasps walked away with 62point lead. Full back Abby Dow stole the show with four tries of her own adding to that of Crake, West, Mitchelson and Lewis.

It was a quick start to the game with Abby Dow running over the whitewash to put the first points on the board. With the backline on fire, it was the front rows turn to steal the thunder with Hannah West powering over. With the conversion from Hannah Edwards, this took the score to 0-12. A Penalty to Wasps gifted them a scrum in the oppositions 22 and a chance for new front row starter Louise Dodd to step up to the plate. And that she did – a strong scrum from the swarm took them over the line for a third.

Wasps Ladies remained dominant through to the half, adding 12 points to the board with tries from Liz Crake, Hannah West. Hannah Edwards made two conversions, taking her to 150 points in the black and yellow jersey. Half time saw some changes to the team with the addition of Makeda Lewis and Lizzie Goulden who is just shy off the same point milestone.

From the bench to the try line – Lewis opened the second half darting over the line with a successful conversion from Golden, the pair taking score to 0-38.

With Wasps Ladies in firm possession of the ball, Abby Dow took it upon herself to run away with the game, scoring three tries in succession, the third following a massive chase down from a kick. The final points of the game were a team effort with a massive scrum taking Mitchelson over the line- the conversion form Goulden taking the final score to 0-62.

A massive weekend on the road for Wasps Ladies- a fourth win in the bag and big milestones reached for Edwards and Goulden. We’ll be taking a break from Tyrrell’s during the Quilter Internationals but will be back on the 1st December to face Saracens
