Samoa and Sri Lanka win their final World Cup games

Samoa claimed 13th place at the Vitality Netball World Cup while Sri Lanka secured 15th as both teams completed their campaigns today.

The morning’s action saw 13th-16th positions decided, with Samoa beating Fiji (the competition’s 14th-place finishers) 53-42, and Sri Lanka defeating Singapore (who finish winless and in 16th place) 78-57.

That match was notable for Tharjini Sivalingam, the Sri Lankan goal shooter, scoring a tournament record high individual score of 77, beating the 76 goals she netted against the same opposition earlier on in the competition.

Upcoming:

Zimbabwe play Jamaica and Malawi face Uganda later, with the two winners then playing-off for fifth on Sunday. Tomorrow will see both semi-finals take place, as Australia take on South Africa and England play New Zealand for a place in the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup final.
