The Duchess of Sussex took a crash course in netball yesterday as she attended the Coach Core Awards with Prince Harry at Loughborough University.
Harry and Meghan visited the university to present awards to graduates of Coach Core; an apprenticeship programme that trains young people to become coaches and sport mentors.
England netballer and gold Commonwealth Games medalist Eboni Beckford-Chambers taught Meghan the ropes, as she prepped her – whilst wearing high heels – for a head-to-head netball shootout against the Duke of Sussex.
Despite Meghan’s best efforts, Harry led his team to a 3-2 victory over the Duchess of Sussex’s team in the netball shootout.
Eboni Beckford-Chambers spent the day talking all things sport with the royals alongside other sporting stars, including tennis player Laura Robson, gymnastics coach Scott Hann, marathon runner and world record holder Paula Radcliffe, former England cricketer Mark Ramprakash and ex-England rugby player Ugo Monye.
Eboni said: “It was such a wonderful day celebrating the achievements of the We Are Coach Core 2018 Graduates. It was an honour to be on the Duchess of Sussex’s team as a We Are Coach Core Ambassador in the netball shootout and to see her delight in our wonderful sport!
“The fact that netball was the sport chosen to be showcased illustrates its growing popularity within the UK. I thoroughly enjoyed the day witnessing how the We Are Coach Core programme, which provides coaching education, continues to change and enhance people’s lives through the power of sport.”
In addition to her stilettos, Meghan stunned in an Oscar de la Renta top and Altuzarra trousers, not your usual sporting attire but the Duchess got stuck in none the less.
