While extreme winter weather decimated football fixtures here in the UK the Lionesses got off to a great start in the SheBelieves Cup with a 4-1 win over France, and this despite being without Captain Steph Houghton, Karen Carney and Jordan Nobbs.
The second game proved trickier against Germany with the Lionesses coming from behind twice to draw 2-2, a result which may have been satisfying if you hadn’t seen the shambolic defending for the two goals given away and the many missed chances to win the game convincingly. All to play for in the final fixture against the USA on Thursday 8 March when the Lionesses come up against host USA in a winner takes all game.
