Harlequins Ladies and Saracens Women maintain their perfect records in the Tyrrells Premier 15s on Saturday, while Darlington Mowden Park Sharks and Loughborough Lightning notched up impressive victories.
Harlequins Ladies 39-12 Gloucester-Hartpury Women’s RFC
Harlequins secured their seventh bonus point win in a row as they triumphed 39-12 in a seven-try thriller against Gloucester-Hartpury.
Leanne Riley got the first points on the board in the first six minutes after a fine dummy run but the visitors levelled the scoring with a neat try by Sarah Bern.
It was Jess Breach’s brace and Shaunagh Brown’s powerful run and score ensured the hosts went in 20-7 at the break.
Davinia Catlin then added a brace of her own in the second half to assert Quins dominance.
Brown’s late dot down means Harlequins continue to set the pace at the top of the table with a perfect record.
Wasps FC Ladies 31-3 Firwood Waterloo Ladies
England player Abby Dow inspired Wasps to a comfortable 31-3 victory over Firwood Waterloo, to edge them into the top three.
Dow crossed twice in the first 20 minutes as she dotted down in the corner before crashing over the whitewash 10 minutes later.
England international Danielle Waterman continued her fine run of form when she powered over four minutes after the restart.
Outside centre Katie Alder was then able to find a gap to make it 24-3 before a penalty try rounded off a classy afternoon for Wasps.
Loughborough Lighting 27-15 Richmond FC
Loughborough Lighting produced a sensational all-round display to take home their third win of the season against Richmond.
Carys Williams was at the heart of everything good for the hosts and her try on the stroke of half-time gave the Lightning a crucial seven-point advantage going into the break.
with 12 minutes to go Natasha Jones found a gap and burrowed her way over to put daylight between the sides.
With just seconds left on the clock, Emma Hardy’s sensational run saw her go under the posts with ease to seal the 27-15 victory.
Saracens Women 29-12 Bristol Ladies
Saracens were made to work hard for their victory against Bristol Ladies as they came from behind to win 29-12.
Katherine Evans crashed over after Lucy Attwood had given Bristol the lead when she ghosted between two defenders to score after eight minutes.
The hosts showed their class in the second period after magic hands from Bryony Cleall and Marlie Packer allowed El Perry to bundle over and edge Sarries in front.
From then on, the home side didn’t look back as Lotte Clapp’s try along with scores from Packer and Cleall means they are just one point off of Quins at the top.
Darlington Mowden Park Sharks 39-5 Worcester Valkyries
Darlington Mowden Park Sharks scored seven tries to see off Worcester Valkyries 39-5 at the Northern Echo Arena, securing their second win of the season.
Valkyries failed to score a point in the second half having gone into the break trailing 10-5.
Five unanswered tries by the Sharks in the second 40 paved the way for their comfortable victory and secure back-to-back wins for the hosts.
It means Darlington Mowden Park Sharks have now taken 13 points from their last five games.
Valkyries threw new signing Hannah Bluck straight into the starting line-up but were unable to end their losing run despite the Welsh centre’s influence.
The Sharks led 10-5 at the break and two quick-fire tries from Ale Lewis set the hosts on their way early in the second half, stretching their advantage to 22-5.
Former England captain Katy Daley-Mclean also forced her way over the try line before a wonderful attacking move was finished by Kenny Thomas.
