Opening batsman Lauren Winfield will miss England’s ICC Women’s World Cup opener against India on Saturday after sustaining a wrist injury in the final warm-up match against New Zealand.
She is to be reassessed early next week but is also likely to be unavailable for England’s second group game, against Pakistan at Leicester on Tuesday 27 June.
As an extra precaution the hand will be in a protective cast until further information is available to medical staff.
