England Hockey and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) will host the Women’s Hockey World Cup 2018 between 21 July and 5 August 2018. Memories of London 2012 will flood back at the event which will be hosted at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and which will be broadcast to a global TV audience of over a billion.

England Hockey is currently rewarding the Hockey Family for their continued support and loyalty by giving hockey clubs and previous ticket purchasers priority access to a limited number of tickets. This access launched today and has seen unprecedented demand with over 10,000 tickets selling in less than an hour.

Women’s team sports events are capturing the public’s imagination at the moment with the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup this year and Netball World Cup in 2019 also hosted in England. The England and Great Britain Hockey teams’ achievements in hockey have been truly inspirational in recent years – with the historic Gold medal in Rio last year watched by 10million people in the UK, and becoming European Champions at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in 2015.

All remaining tickets will be available to purchase later in the year via a public ballot which will open on the anniversary of the Rio Gold medal – 19 August 2017. Fans can register to receive ballot entry notifications here.

The Women’s Hockey World Cup 2018 website and schedule have now been released by the FIH, and England fans can now see which matches their team will be playing in.

For more information on the event, the Official Women’s Hockey World Cup website is now live.

Chair of the Women’s Hockey World Cup Organising Committee, Andy Tapley, said “this event promises to be the biggest hockey event ever hosted in the UK, and with hockey on a high following the fantastic gold medal at Rio 2016, these are incredibly exciting times for the sport. Demand for hockey tickets is soaring and we’re delighted to be offering priority access for tickets to the Hockey Family. We’re very much looking forward to engaging more people with hockey across not just the UK but the World.”

FIH CEO Jason McCracken said: “The launch of the new World Cup website marks an important milestone in the countdown to the Hockey World Cups. Apart from the Olympic Games, our World Cups are the pinnacle of the sport. The content being shared across our digital channels will really boost excitement amongst fans and athletes in the lead up to these events, which I’m sure will further increase during the Hockey World League Semi-Finals – our World Cup qualifiers in June and July.”

The Women’s World Cup 2018 has a number of sponsorship and partnerships available including Title Sponsor. It is an exciting time for women’s team sport in the public eye and this event is one of the best platforms available to align with women’s sport.
