Evelyn Jones has signed for LCB Women from Staffordshire for the 2017 campaign.
Following a successful 2016 season for the LCB Women, crowned winners of the Royal London Women’s One-Day Championship Division 2 and retaining their place in the NatWest Women’s County T20 Division 1, they look to push hard to perform well in all formats this summer.
To strengthen the squad, Evelyn Jones a left handed top order batter, currently part of the England Women’s Senior Academy and Loughborough Lightning in the Kia Super League, will add more strength, depth and experience to the batting line-up.
Evelyn had a good season with Staffordshire last year top scoring with 110 and also played a valuable role for Loughborough Lightning batting in various positions. She is a player who has worked extremely hard on her game across all aspects, her fielding and work ethic will be a great asset to the Lancashire side.
On her move to the Red Rose, Evelyn said: “I’m really looking forward to joining up with Lancashire for this year and help contribute to a successful season. Having spent the last 5 years playing for Staffordshire I’m excited about this new challenge. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Staffordshire including all the coaches and players for their help and support.”
Dan Atkinson, LCB Women’s Head Coach added: “It’s great to have someone of Eve’s calibre joining us for 2017. We are keen to continue to move forward and push the girls to strive to better themselves. The goal for 2017 will be to retain Division 1 status across both formats, something we feel as a group we are very capable of doing. With the batting strength Eve will add to this group, we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
“With a more formal 2nd team competition now in place, I look forward to all the players competing for their place in the side for 2017.”
