Seventh Wildcat commits to Durham

Durham Women FC have confirmed the seventh member of the squad to commit their future to the club, as Annabel Johnson agrees to stay at New Ferens Park.
The versatile Johnson joined the Wildcats having previously played for Coventry United in the FA WPL, and is studying for a Masters Degree at Durham University.
After making her debut away at Yeovil Town in July, Johnson went on to make six appearances in the second half of the season, and enjoyed a run in the starting line-up towards the end of the campaign.
Comfortable across the backline or in midfield, Johnson will be looking to push on in 2017 as the FA WSL Spring Series approaches.
Speaking after she committed her future to the club, Johnson said: “I’m really excited to get to start the season early having joined halfway through last season.
“I got a good taste of it and it was a challenge to move up the leagues, which is what I wanted.
“The girls have all been great and really welcoming so hopefully we can have a good pre-season and get stuck into it properly for the Spring Series.
“I’ve got a great deal moving up here as I managed to secure a scholarship to study my Masters at the university.
“I’ve started a two-year course studying Management and I get the football as well, so I can’t complain.”
Manager Lee Sanders added: “Annabel is a more recent signing and came to ourselves from Coventry and will be at Durham University studying for a Masters Degree on our scholarship scheme.
“She’s got an absolutely fantastic attitude, is a great communicator and is 100% committed, and she fitted in with the team as soon as she turned up.
“She’s versatile in the positions she can play and I’m excited to see what she can do in the team in 2017.”
