WRLA name 2017 County of Origin Coaches and Managers

The WRLA have named the Lancashire and Yorkshire Coaches for the forthcoming Xamax WRLA County of Origin game, which weather permitting, will take place on Sunday 29th January at the Big Fellas Stadium, Featherstone Rovers RLFC following the BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final.

The Lancashire coaches and manager tasked with trying to level the series up to 3-3 are Head Coach Darren Lindley, Assistant Coaches: John Johnson, Laura Goodwyn-Outten and the manager is Chris Greenfields.

The Yorkshire coaches and manager tasked with trying to take a 4-2 series lead are Head Coach Shane Hussain, Assistant Coach Steve Smith and the manager is Dean Gledhill.

WRLA Chair Steve Manning said: “First of all I would like to thank everyone who put themselves forward for the respective coaching and manager positions for Lancashire and Yorkshire. This gave the WRLA committee some hard decisions to make as a result.

“So congratulations to those who have been appointed who have a hard act to follow from previous seasons, but I am sure they are ready for the challenges ahead preparing for Xamax County of Origin 6, which will take place, weather permitting, on Sunday 29th January at the Big Fellas Stadium following the BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final.

“I would like to thank BARLA for letting us once again be part of their double header on what should be a great occasion for the amateur game or our women and men to be involved in.”
