Heavy rain forces England v Sri Lanka 4th ODI into reserve day

  • +1

As a result of heavy rainfall in between the first and second innings in Colombo today, the 4th One-Day International between England and Sri Lanka at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS) will now be completed tomorrow, Friday 18th November 2016.

This is in accordance with the ICC Women’s Championship Playing Conditions, which state that in the event of any ICC Women’s Championship match not being completed on the scheduled date, it will be played or completed on a reserve day.

The current state of the match is outlined below:

England women won the toss and elected to bat

England women – 240-9 (Natalie Sciver 77, Danielle Hazell 45, Inoshi Priyadharshani 3-28, Inoka Ranaweera 3-38)

50 overs

Sri Lanka women – still to bat

Play will now recommence at 10.00am local time tomorrow with Sri Lanka chasing 241 for victory from 50 overs.

England Women will have to wait 24 hours in their quest to seal an ODI series whitewash against Sri Lanka after torrential rain in Colombo caused play to be abandoned.

The visitors – who lead the series 3-0 – saw out their 50 overs and finished the innings on 240 for nine but heavy rainfall at the break means Sri Lanka will now begin their chase on Friday.
