The Qatar based event is now widely regarded as the season finale and the British duo will get their last taste of competitive action for this year before their winter training continues at the University of Bath, Pentathlon GB’s National Training Centre.

25 year-old Cooke and 27 year-old Murray teamed up at the Kremlin Cup earlier this month where they finished 5th in a mixed-relay format event on their first return to action after the Olympics.

Both athletes enjoyed competing in the Russian capital with Murray commenting during the event that “We’re having a really good competition and we’re enjoying ourselves. We love pentathlon, it’s our passion, and it’s an honour to compete for our country.”

Cooke added that “The Olympics was obviously the big focus for us this year, but it’s also nice to come to competitions such as the Kremlin Cup and have a little bit of fun as well as compete with your friends.”

World number 2 Cooke and London 2012 silver medallist Murray will both be making their debuts in Champion of Champions event and are looking to finish a long season on a positive note. The duo will form part of a star-studded field heading to the Qatari capital as 18 of the world’s top pentathletes bring a special Olympic year to its close.
