People will have the chance to go on their own Olympic journey and win a medal during a Rio-themed Team Bath Family Fun Day.
Taking place at the University of Bath Sports Training Village from 12-4pm on Saturday, June 25, the annual event provides an opportunity to try out some of the best sports facilities in the country for free.
There will be fun for all the family, including have-a-go sessions in tennis, badminton, fencing and trampolining.
Visitors can also take the plunge in the 50m London 2012 Legacy Pool, currently being used by Team GB swimmers and modern pentathletes as they prepare for the Olympic Games.
Other outdoor activities will include a climbing wall and zip wire, while visitors can get in the mood for this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brazil by relaxing on the Team Bath Beach.
BMI and health testing will allow people to experience life as a performance athlete.
And the annual Olympic Day Run – celebrating the ideals of the Olympic Movement – will once again take place over a 5km course, with a 3km run available for under-16s.
London 2012 Olympic rhythmic gymnast Rachel Smith will act as this year’s official starter of the run, which begins at 2pm. Entrants can sign up on the day.
It’s not only the Summer Olympics that are being celebrated – visitors can also experience the thrill of the Winter Games on the bobsleigh push-start track, the only one of its kind in the country.
