Women’s Weekly Round up 8th May by Rebecca Bird
On Sunday the first round of the Challenge Cup took place in the women’s league, Stanningley Ladies hosted Bradford Bulls and it was the travelling side who emerged with a 58-6 victory. Bradford’s Amy Hardcastle and Shona Hoyle both scored three tries each, Rhiannon Marshall and Stacey White both scored twice. There was one try each for Charlene Hennigan, Lois Forsell and Jess Courtman, Courtman also converted four tries. Stanningley’s Heather McDonald scored their try with Tasha Gaines adding the conversion.
Selby Warriors were at home to Army RL Ladies and the home side lost out 16-22.
Leigh Miners Rangers welcomed Brighouse Rangers and the home side powered to a 58-0 victory. Georgia Sutherland led the charge with four tries and one goal, there was two tries each for Grace Morley and Serena Tamou. Rhian Boag, Jenna Banks and Emily Mullen all scored one try each and Mullen added four goals. The player of the match for Leigh Miners was winger Grace Morley.
Thatto Heah St Helens made the journey to Normanton Knights and it was another away cup win with Thatto progressing to the next round with a 62-4 score.
