This is what her coach had to say about her:
“Amy Gilbert has grown in real strength this season. Her timing and angled powerful runs splits most defences.
“When tackled she still fights to gain more yards – never giving up.
“Her one-on-one tackling has been outstanding. Her all round contribution to the club – sorting out food rota’s etc – has been greatly appreciated.
“A true team player both on and off the pitch.”
The photos illustrate her fighting spirit. Selected to play for Yorkshire in the County of Origin game, the score was 8-8 at full time and it went to extra time with both teams striving for that golden point. With just seconds on the clock Amy collected a loose ball and drove towards the try line, the sheer determination on her face was obvious and you just knew she was going to score that winning try, and claim victory for Yorkshire.
Player of the Month – each month the coaches put forward the name of a player from their team who they think deserves the award, and the reasons why. The WRLA committee then decide the winner by voting for the most deserved candidate.
