After ten winless rounds in the Vitality Netball Superleague, Yorkshire Jets have one final chance to get a win in front of a home crowd this weekend.
They welcome Team Northumbria on Saturday to Leeds in a match between the league’s bottom two teams. The North East side have won two games this season, including a narrow victory by just four points over Jets in a physical encounter in Newcastle in February.
Last Saturday, Jets were competitive for three of the four quarters against Surrey Storm but a nine-point loss in the second 15 minutes left them with an insurmountable lead against the reigning champions.
Head Coach Anna Carter says that, once again, consistency will be key if her side are to earn their first points of the season:
“Our game against Team Northumbria in February was closely contested and we went down to a narrow defeat in what was a bruising clash in front of a vocal Newcastle crowd. We hope that playing in front of an equally vocal Yorkshire crowd will spur us onto victory on Saturday.
“The story of our season has been one of inconsistency – we can score, we can defend, we can be competitive but we have struggled to do that for the entire game. That has to change in order for us to get some points on the board and we’re working hard to ensure it does in our final home game this weekend.”
Centre pass in the game on Saturday is at 4pm at Leeds Beckett University’s Sports Arena.
