The Continental Tyres Cup competition has a new format this season. The group stage, which has been part of the Cup for the past five seasons, has been scrapped in favour of a straight knock-out format, with Sheffield going in at the preliminary round stage.
Six teams will contest this stage – the teams that finished in the five bottom places in last seasons WSL2 plus Sheffield as the league newcomers.
The winning three teams will go forward into the first round, joining the other 13 teams from WSL1 and WSL2, with all WSL1 teams from last season being given an away tie.
