Women’s 6 Nations Round 4

  • +1

Looking ahead to another exciting weekend of rugby with the 4th round of the RBS 6 Nations

This week’s fixtures:

Friday 11 March 18.00 – Scotland v France at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld

Saturday 12 March 18.05 – England v Wales, Twickenham Stoop, London

Sunday 13 March 13.00 – Ireland v Italy, Donnybrook, Dublin

Intriguing matches in store for round 4 of the RBS Women’s 6 Nations this weekend. After Wales somewhat surprising win against France, can they also cause an upset at the Stoop, or will the fired up England team continue their progress and delight their home crowd?

Meanwhile Scotland, a team that has shown great improvement under new coach Shade Munro but still seeking that elusive win, will they find it against a wounded France or will France come back even stronger?

Finally its home advantage for Ireland against Italy, with whom they are currently level on points, will it give them the edge to win?

We will find out in just a few days.  In the meantime, here are some facts from the RBS 6 Nations together with the current table:

Scotland v France

  • France Women are the last team to lose to Scotland Women in the Six Nations, going down 10-8 at Lasswade in 2010.
  • France Women were defeated 8-10 in Wales in round 3 and have not lost successive games in the same season of the Women’s Six Nations since 2006.
  • The two countries have met on twenty-two previous occasion with Scotland Women winning five and France seventeen.
  • This is the teams’ first meeting at Cumbernauld.

  • England have only ever lost three home games in the history of the Women’s Six Nations, all to France, in 2005, 2013 and 2015.
  • Wales Women have won their last two matches, at home to Scotland and France, but away from home their only victory since 2013 came on a visit to Scotland in round 2 last year.
  • Wales Women beat England 13-0 at Swansea last year to record only the second victory in their 32 previous encounters.
  • England Women have played ten previous games at Twickenham Stoop with their only defeat being to New Zealand in the 2010 World Cup final.

Ireland v Italy

  • Italy Women won their first ever game with Ireland in 1997 but have lost all twelve encounters since.
  • This is Ireland Women’s fifth visit to Donnybrook where their only loss was to Wales in 2006.
