Jets v Mavericks preview

  • +1

Yorkshire Jets will be looking to get their first Superleague win in the next few days as they face two games in the space of 72 hours.

On Saturday, Jets have their first home game of the season in Leeds with Hertfordshire Mavericks, who are unbeaten after three matches, the visitors.

Anna Carter’s side have been working hard over the past week after defeat to reigning champions Surrey Storm last weekend but after three defeats the priority is to get points on the board.

Saturday’s game begins at 4pm in front of a capacity crowd at the Leeds Beckett University Sports Arena.

Jets second game is in Newcastle when, on Monday, they take on Team Northumbria in front of the Sky Sports cameras. The North East side, who play Team Bath on Friday evening, are also looking for their first win of the campaign.

Head Coach Anna Carter says: “Despite the disappointing score line against Surrey Storm, there were positives to take from the game and our focus is on being consistently good across all four quarters rather than having encouraging patches as has been the case so far this season.

“You learn a lot from defeats and we are still at a very early stage of the season. I am confident the lessons we take from the opening rounds of the competition will stand us in good stead for the future.”
