Yeovil Town LFC have today announced that Manager Jamie Sherwood has been contracted for the 2016 season.
With the team’s first competitive fixture fast approaching, manager Jamie Sherwood has became the first manager in the club’s history to be contracted.
The decision has come as the board of directors at Yeovil Town Ladies see the importance of securing the manager as vital as its players.
With Bradford City Women due to travel to Sherborne for this weekends SSE FA Women’s Cup match against Yeovil Town Ladies, it will give an extra boost to the squad, which sees full backing for Jamie Sherwood.
After taking on the managerial role mid way through the 2014 season, Sherwood has had a season to establish his philosophy and playing style. This year Sherwood has shaped a side, who are certain to reach heights that will take the club to the next level.
Chairman Steve Allinson said “We have made some significant signings in the closed season to strengthen the squad, but this appointment is, in my opinion, the most important.”
“Jamie is integral to so much of what we are doing here, at all levels and I am thrilled that we have been able to agree a manager’s contract with him.”
“It also reflects the ongoing development of the Club. These really are exciting times for all associated with Yeovil Town Ladies.”
Speaking about this contract, manager Jamie Sherwood said “The belief the board show in myself and the rest of my staff throughout the club gives me the confidence to develop further structures to secure the long term sustainability of the club both on and off the field.”
“The progress of the club over the last 18 months has been a great journey, but my group of staff have massively taken the responsibility too.”
“We now boast that we have a two UEFA A License coaches with Pete Amos as our Technical Adviser, and Michelle Yeowell as our Head Coach, who has a real keen eye for detail. We have recruited Louise Hutton who is another young ambitious coach who brings fresh eyes into our programme and with fresh eyes we have new ideas. Lou takes the role of First Team Player Coach.”
“The final pieces of the coaching staff jigsaw is Tony Rich, who has has done great work with all our goalkeepers and can boast that Charlie Haynes is an England U19 player along with Alice Evans who is now playing professionally in Italy, as well as a clutch of up and coming goalkeepers in our club.”
“The teams support staff in physio Kim Cheffey and analyst Matt Powell, will also be crucial to the success this season.”
