University of Bath judoka Jemima Duxberry (pictured above in white) made an encouraging return from long-term injury as she won a bronze medal at an international club event in Belgium.
The result was all the more impressive as it was also the first time the Sports Performance student had competed in the U78kg weight category.
Duxberry, who is supported by the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), had previously fought in the U70kg division before being sidelined for more than a year by a knee injury.
Juergen Klinger, Head Judo Coach at Team Bath, said: “We wanted to test how it was for Jemima at the higher weight and she won a bronze medal, so it was a very good result.
“It was a positive experience and something for us to build on over the next couple of months as we look to get Jemima back towards the World Cup stage.”
