England women U17 make stunning start to Euro campaign

  • +1

England women’s U17 team got their Euro qualifying campaign off to a remarkable start with a 13-0 drubbing of Croatia today.

Georgia Stanway started the goal fest with 5 to her name (14′, 17′, 22′, 34′ and a penalty on 40′), Alessia Russo chipped in with another 5 (26′, 52′ 59′, 60′, 70′); Hannah Cain scored one (55′) and Ella Toone rounded the game off with her two (68′ and 90′).  It seems unbelievable to score 5 goals in a match and not be the highest scorer.

Next up for the U17s is Estonia on Saturday 3rd October and they will then play Poland on Tuesday 6th October.  Poland shipped ten goals past Estonia today, on what was a high scoring day; in the other fixture played this afternoon the Czech Republic beat Georgia 13-0.
