Bristol Ladies Rugby Club have issued the following statement in connection with their game against Thurrock on Sunday:
Last weekend, Bristol Ladies were unable to field a team for the planned fixture against Thurrock Ladies as part of the RFU Championship South league.
This was due to a variety of reasons, including injuries and regional commitments and unfortunately we were unable to get the required number of players to field a 2nd team.
The RFU regulations regarding this means that the 2nd XV have been automatically relegated from the Championship South league – whilst hugely disappointing for the club, we feel this decision is fair given the situation we are currently in.
We do need to fulfil the rest of our fixtures this season to avoid being moved down two leagues – so will be continuing to train and run two teams moving forward.
We wish both Bristol Ladies teams all the best for the rest of the season.
