  • +1

The England Women’s Academy (EWA) led by Tammy Beaumont drew their one-off 2-day match against Australia women on Saturday 1st – Sunday 2nd August, at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.

England batted first and despite a rain delay declared on 279 for 9 after 99 overs with Fran Wilson top scoring on 55, Laura Marsh got 44 and Georgia Elwiss 41.

Jess Jonassen was the pick of the Australian bowlers with 3 for 11.

By stumps Australia were on 20 for 2 having lost both openers for just one run apiece.

However, on day two despite losing Meg Lanning early on for just 14 Ellyse Perry and Alex Blackwell took control and frustrated the England bowlers. Perry was eventually out for 110 and Blackwell 115, only for Jess Jonassen to score 79 not out as Australia cruised to 377 for 7.

The wickets were shared among with England bowlers with only Beth Langston taking more than one, and Beth got 2 from 15.

A nice warm up for the Australia team with their batsmen showing ominous form before the 4-day Ashes test next week.
