Nicola Watts signed for Reading FC Women yesterday.  The Bristol forward’s deal went through on deadline day and sees the former Royal return to the club she played for between 2010-2012 before her move to Bristol Academy to play in the FA WSL.

Kelly Chambers said ‘It’s great to bring Nikki back to the club, I know she is a proven goalscorer at all levels.’  She added ‘Nikki adds to the competition for places in my strike force, after the departure of Francesca to Chelsea.’

Watts scored 9 goals in WSL 1 in 2014 and in 2015 she bagged 3 in 7 appearances for the Vixens.

Chambers finished by saying, ‘I’m looking forward to Nikki joining the excellent squad I have here at Reading and showing what I know she is capable of.’

Watts is looking forward to meeting up with the Royals squad and said ‘Really pleased to be joining Reading, I think it’s a club that’s going places in the Women’s game and I’m excited to be a part of it.’

She went on to say ‘Hopefully I can make an important contribution to the team in the 2nd half season and help them gain promotion to WSL 1.’
