At 3pm this afternoon, Saturday 3 January 2015 the Nomads will kick off against Scotland at Murrayfield, as part of Scotland’s preparation for the Six Nations.
The Nomads are an invitational team featuring top players not currently involved in international competition as well as ex-international and top club team players from around the world. Nomads RFC were formed in 1993 and are generally described as the women’s equivalent of men’s rugby’s Barbarians. Their last matches were against South Africa in 2014.
This fixture is their first against Scotland and they travel with a squad with 765 caps between them and six players who played at the World Cup.
The team is coached by former Scotland captain Suzie Brown and ex Canada prop Leslie Cripps, and includes recently retired World Cup winners Claire Purdy and Sophie Hemming and Irish internationals Fiona Coghlan and Lynne Cantwell.
The Scotland squad has yet to be named.
