The awards keep coming for members of the 2014 World Cup winning Rugby team.  In a star-studded gala evening at the Hatherley Manor Hotel, the winners of the 2014 Gloucestershire Media Sports Awards were announced.  In attendance was England 1966 World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst.

Professional Sports Personality of the Year: Danielle (Nolli) Waterman (England rugby): The dynamic full-back (right) was an integral part of the triumphant England Rugby team who beat Canada 21-9 in Paris to lift the World Cup for the first time in 20 years. The University of Gloucestershire student scored a try in the final. The victory was all the sweeter for the former Hartpury lecturer, who finished runner-up to New Zealand in 2006 and 2010.

Rugby Player of the Year (Over 18) Natasha ‘Mo’ Hunt (England rugby) also member of the World Cup winning England Rugby team (at her first visit to the World Cup finals) is not only a scrum half for England and Lichfield but is also a qualified PE teacher.

Both players now have professional contracts with the RFU as part of the fully-funded England Sevens squad bidding for Olympic gold in Rio 2016.  They will next be in action at the forthcoming World Rugby Sevens Series Dubai tournament on 4th and 5th December.
