Bees sign three!

  • +1

London Bees have announced the addition of three new players to their first team squad ahead of the resumption of the Women’s Super League season.

Joining the Bees are strikers Emma Whitter and Kate Bowers as well as defender Kara-May Howes – all of whom will be available for Sunday’s game against Oxford United Women at The Hive.

Emma Whitter – who becomes the oldest member of the Bees’ squad at thirty-years-old – has enjoyed spells with Chelsea, Millwall and Crystal Palace in the past.

Now, having completed her comeback from a serious ankle injury, she says that she is determined to lead from the front for her new side:

“It feels amazing. I haven’t played for a year due to injury and I have really enjoyed it during the six or seven weeks that I have been here. I’m used to being one of the more experienced heads as I had a similar situation at my previous clubs. I’m a striker and I score goals – I am very confident and I want to help the team progress and win more games.”

Joining her in attack will be 24-year-old forward Kate Bowers, who has been training with the Bees following a recent anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Now fit and raring to go, the former Chesham Ladies striker says that excitement is high ahead of making her bow for the Bees:

“It is really exciting to have been given the opportunity. I can’t actually explain how excited I am – I have been out for a while so I’m ready to get back out on the pitch.

“We are on a high and everybody is buzzing and ready to go. We are going to get those points – we have to!”

The final new addition to the Bees’ squad is 18-year-old full-back Kara-May Howes, who began her career at Oxford United before impressing at MK Dons and being brought to the attention of Julian Broomes.

Now having been given the chance to get her first taste of Women’s Super League football, the defender says that she is thrilled to be at The Hive and that her first impressions of the club could not have been better:

“It is amazing. This is a new opportunity for me and I am thrilled to be here. I’m so excited to get going – I can’t wait. The sessions have been really good and really enjoyable. They are all nice girls who talk to you a lot and I feel that I am already getting to know everybody here.”

All three new signings will be available for the London Bees’ squad for their first game following the mid-season break against Oxford United Women on Sunday (KO 14:00).
