Harlequins have announced the signing of back row Lenaig Corson ahead of the 2022-23 season.
With 30 France caps to her name, Corson joins Quins from Allianz Premier 15s rivals Wasps Women, first coming to England via French side Stade Francais earlier this year.
Growing up, Lenaig was a heptathlete and only began playing rugby aged 20. After earning her first cap for the French national side in 2012 against the USA, she signed with the national 7s team in 2014 and went onto feature in five Women’s Six Nations competitions, five World Rugby 7s Series and the 2017 Rugby World Cup.
A veritable legend of French rugby, the 33-year-old has also represented the famous Barbarian FC team alongside a handful of current and former Harlequins.
Eager to link up with the London club, Corson said: “I wanted to say thank you to all the kind and generous people I met at Wasps. It was a tough time to leave Wasps, but I am looking forward to my next steps with Quins.
“It’s time to live a new chapter with one of the best teams in the Premier 15s. I am very excited for this new challenge and I am delighted to have the opportunity to play for another historic English club.
“The performance programme at Harlequins looks very professional and I look forward to working hard to take my game to my best level.
“I will be joining my housemate Bryony Cleall and some players I have faced for many years at international level – players I have a huge respect for. The last time I played at The Stoop was the 6 Nations final in 2021. That wasn’t the best memory because we lost against England so I can’t wait to create more good memories and celebrate victories with my new team.”
Head Coach Amy Turner said: “We are delighted to welcome Lenaig to Harlequins. She is an established international with pedigree proved over years of playing at the elite level of the game.
“She will add great depth and quality to our back row and will bring as much value off the pitch as she will on it as she contributes to the squad culture.”
With thanks to Harlequins
