Harlequins Women have confirmed that Guinness Women’s Six Nations Player of the Championship Nominee Aoife Wafer has re-signed with the Club.
Irish number 8 Wafer joined Harlequins at the start of the 25/26 season, after being crowned as the 2025 Guinness Women’s Six Nations Player of the Tournament and featuring at the Rugby World Cup for Ireland, where they reached the quarter-finals.
She made her debut in the Quarters against Sale Sharks in December 2025 and her first start a week later in Big Game 17 at Allianz Stadium.
Wafer has since gone on to make 10 appearances in the Quarters, scoring 7 tries, including a hattrick against Trailfinders Women in January.
The Irish international has quickly established herself as a formidable ball carrier and also a huge defensive threat for Harlequins, with a number of significant contributions on both sides of the ball across the campaign. Her 15 turnovers made this season ranks second across the PWR.
In the recent Guinness Women’s Six Nations, Wafer has again been nominated for Player of the Championship, after another standout string of performances, including two tries against Scotland at the Aviva Stadium.
Still just 23 years old, Wafer is already one of the standout players in the game and insists that the best is still yet to come, as she continues to develop her game in the Quarters.
“It’s an incredible group to be a part of and I’m really excited to see what we can do next season. We have the potential to do something special and I’m excited to be involved in that with Quins. It’s a different style of rugby to what I’ve played before, but a really enjoyable style to learn. The PWR has made me a better player, and it’s allowed me to perform at a higher intensity.”

Head Coach Ross Chisholm expressed his delight at Wafer recommitting to Harlequins, insisting that the number 8 can take her game to another level in the Quarters.
“Aoife has been a standout performer in the PWR this season and we are thrilled that she has re-committed to the Club. She is a real leader both on and off the pitch. We’ve seen how much of an impact she has had on games this season and I believe that in our environment, she can take her game to another level again in the coming seasons.”
