History-making Olympian Kate Shortman made a medal-winning return to competition and fellow University of Bath sporting scholar Ranjuo Tomblin continued his excellent form when Paris hosted Stop 2 of the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup 2026.
Bill Whiteley Scholar Shortman reunited with partner Izzy Thorpe to win Women’s Duet Technical bronze in their first competition together since their magnificent silver for Team GB at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Shortman sat out the 2025 season while on a placement year in Paris for her International Management and Modern Languages (French) undergraduate degree course before returning to training in September.
Tomblin, a Sports Performance student supported by a Trendell Scholarship, also partnered Thorpe to bronze in Paris in the Mixed Duet Free and secured silver medals in both the Men’s Solo Free and Solo Technical.
That takes Tomblin’s World Cup medal tally for 2026 to six, adding to the three golds – Solo Tech, Mixed Duet Tech and Mixed Duet Free – he won at Stop 1 in Colombia last month.
