‘Metro Bank’ One Day Cup League One – match 53

  • +1

Durham Cricket (women) vs Surrey – (match 53) at Chester-le-Street, Seat Unique Riverside on Saturday 13 September 2025

Victorious Surrey women posted shy of 300 runs, with strong batting performances: firstly, by Jemima Spence – pictured who scored her maiden ‘fifty’ [highest A-list score 68runs (from 63 balls)]; secondly, by Emma Jones [47(from 28 balls)] who’d scored maiden centuries in both leagues. Also thirdly, by Alice Davidson-Richards 65*not out(61) – undefeated when two overs remaining were docked for rain. For background, this was a decisive semi-final qualification match with huge pressure on both teams to get a result. On the other hand, had adverse weather produced ‘no result,’ then Somerset may have sneaked through into fourth place. Afforded the opportunity to reply once weather improved, only four Durham Cricket women batters made double-figures. Surrey’s best bowler Dani Gregory (3/24) took three tail-enders’ wickets to win the match. That sent Surrey women to play Hants women in the second semi-final. Commentators: Polly Starkie (‘HerGameToo’ regional cricket champion & social media co-host ‘Noughtie Child Podcast’) & Ash Thorpe (Durham Cricket Academy.)
