  • +1

Worcestershire Rapids women vs Glamorgan women – (match 40, league two) at Astwood Bank CC  Redditch, on BH Monday 25 August 2025 (10h30)

Glamorgan women sent Rapids to a ‘ruthless’ ten-wickets defeat, dashing their semi-final qualification aspirations to finish fourth. On the day, Glamorgan skipper Lauren Parfitt – pictured [66 runs(from 59 balls)] scored ten ‘fours’ plus the winning ‘six’ when chasing down a barely defendable target score, without loss. Fellow opener Abbey Freeborn also carried her bat, scoring 48(from 48) with nine ‘fours.’  Earlier, Rapids skipper Clare Boycott  [55*runs, not out (75)] played a skipper’s innings, whilst her batting partners struggled against Glamorgan women’s bowling attack. At one point, Glamorgan took three wickets from seven deliveries for one run, as all five bowlers took wickets. Pick of the Glamorgan women bowlers were Ella Porter (3/24); and Eve Jackson (3//27 runs) both of whom took 3-fers. Glamorgan womens convincing win assures them of a semi-final fixture at home, safely assuming they finish the group stage in second-place – ceteris paribus (all other things being equal.) Weather: cloudless sky with light breeze 20C.
