  • +1

Northamptonshire Steelbacks vs Yorkshire (women) (match 23-L2) at Peterborough Town Ground, Peterborough Cricket Club on Sunday 29 June

Yorkshire women wrapped-up a comfortable five-wicket win with two overs to spare. Top-of-table with three games-in-hand, they’re the first team to book their place at Finals Day at Northampton on July 26. Post-match, Head women’s coach Rick Pyrah told reporters it was ’Nice to get some reward (for Yorkshire women) to play in a Finals Day.’ Key to success was bowler Ria Fackrell (pictured) who took a 4-fer (taking four wickets/conceding 17 runs), said by reporters to ‘restrict Steelbacks total.’ By comparison, Steelbacks women’s own off-spinner Ella Phillips (4/34) took four Yorkshire wickets, assisted by stand-in keeper Erica Turner taking two catches and one stumping. Following Lauren Winfield-Hill double-par strike-rate: scoring 32 runs from 16 balls, winning contributions by skipper Maddie Ward [34 runs (from 30 balls)] partnered by Rebecca ‘Becca’ Duckworth 21*not out nudged Yorkshire women within twenty runs of what became a ‘controlled’ victory.
