Gaffed by commentators as ‘five successive’ wins, Yorkshire women bagged their third back-to-back win from four rounds played-to-date; having lost their first match to Rapids. Commentators complimented ground staff for a ‘belter’ of a pitch, following unusually dry weather. They were confident to see the hosts playing regular tier-one cricket to attract bigger crowds at (nearby) Headingley, from next year. Batting first, Francesca Sweet made an outstanding contribution for Foxes women, scoring a run-a-ball ‘fifty’. By comparison, Yorks commentators described their ‘breakthrough’ when Foxes lost two batters wickets straight after mid-way drinks.
