  • +1

South East Stars vs Southern Vipers at Beckenham, Kent on 14 September 2024

Defending champions – trophy holders and three-times winners – Vipers were knocked-out from this year’s competition by Stars. Before the match, Vipers vice-captain Emily Windsor spoke of a ‘good buzz;’ and Alice Monaghan said she was ‘sad to leave’ when confirming to reporters that she’d signed for Surrey. Stars were skippered by vice-captain Kira Chathli who’d been key to Stars success scoring recent back-to-back ‘fifties.’ On the day, both sides posted 100 runs by mid-way. Top-scorer Alice Davidson-Richards [90*not out (from 109 balls)] took the game away with a ninety-run batting partnership with Kalea Moore who scored an unbeaten ‘fifty.’ Post-match, Vipers Head Coach Charlotte Edwards was ‘extremely proud’ after their semi-final defeat – as reported below. Stars play Sunrisers, in the up-coming Trophy final. Commentators from BBC sport sat inside a pitch-side tent: were Kevan ‘Kev’ James (radio Solent) with Phil Green (Hursley Park) and guest Charlotte Taylor (Vipers player.) Weather was ‘unusually’ sunny with blue sky 17-19C.
