Oval Invincibles vs Northern Superchargers at the Kia Oval (London South) on 2 August 2024

Speaking after the north-south derby, Superchargers skipper Hollie Armitage (pictured)was congratulated for a ‘massive win,’ that followed a ‘heart-breaking’ tie with the defending champions (on 30 July.) By contrast, Invincibles skipper Lauren Winfield-Hill conceded that her team ‘weren’t at the races,’ as wickets were thrown away too easily. The match reached its climax when Annabel Sutherland took four wickets with six balls 4-fer (4/11); to win the match. Receiving POTM ‘Meerkat match hero’ cap-and-medal from Dinesh Karthik, Annabel Sutherland was complemented for making top-score from ‘power-hitting’ with her bat [unbeaten top-score 63*not out (from 40 balls).]  Annabel Sutherland was also congratulated for best bowling performance, taking four wickets with six balls as mentioned above. Invincibles fell from top to fourth place (4 points.) Superchargers’ lifted from last to fifth place (3 points.) Commentators for SKY Sports were Natalie Germanos (broadcaster & actress from Rep. South Africa TV); Dinesh Karthik (former India international), Nasser Hussain OBE (broadcaster & former England international), with guest Stuart Broad (former England international.) Weather was hot and humid following an overnight storm, 25C.
