Charlotte Edwards Cup 2024  – match 33 –  Stars vs Sunrisers

  • +1

South East Stars vs Sunrisers  at The Kia Oval (Kennington) London (South) on 15 June 2024 with rain-delayed start 15h50

Sunrisers ‘had nothing to lose,’ playing for ‘professional pride’ against Stars who’d already qualified for finals day. Match got underway after a lengthy rain delay, with two overs docked from each innings.  Batting first, all Stars batters-bar-one made double figures. Australian debutante Georgia Redmayne made top-score, undefeated [38*not out (from 40 balls).] ‘Fifty’ partnership with Emma Jones [36 (from 23)] nudged Emma Jones three runs past her previous t20 best score (2022.) Short cameo by England’s Alice-Davidson-Richards [16*not out (6)] took Stars past the 150-mark. Sunrisers lost two wickets during the first pair of overs from Alexa Stonehouse (England u-19s) and Ryana MacDonald-Gay (England ‘A’.) Commentator’s curse struck when Tilly Corteen-Coleman’s (u-19s) 1st ball also took a wicket. Said to be ‘in all manner of bother’ on 43/5, skipper Grace Scrivens scored ‘fifty,’ partnered by Jo Gardner. The pair saw Sunrisers past three-figures until heavy rain curtailed the match prematurely, once Umpires made clear they had no appetite to continue. Commentators: Jamie Reid with Michael ‘Mike’ McCann (Sports journalists) taking turns every five overs. Weather was overcast, curtailed by heavy rain, and the result decided in Stars favour, by Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.
