Sunrisers vs Southern Vipers at Radlett, Herts (Brunton Memorial Ground) on 8 May (10h30)
Defending champions Southern Vipers suffered their second defeat of the season as they went down by three wickets to Sunrisers. Three Sunrisers batters Jodi Grewcock 56, Florence ‘Flo’ Miller 47 and Amara Carr 42 (pictured) all chalked-up their best scores of the new season. Flo Miller staged a match-winning partnership of sixty runs with Joanne ‘Jo’ Gardner for Sunrisers’ 7th wicket. Flo Miller also scored the winning ‘single’ to chalk-up Sunrisers’ fourth win. Sunrisers (19 points) move one point ahead of defending champions Vipers who’ve also won four matches from six rounds played-to-date. Commentators who were convinced the match could have gone ‘either way’ during the last ten overs, were Kevan ‘Kev’ James, Jordan Clark? (both BBC Radio Solent) with guest player Charlotte Taylor (Vipers.) ‘Great drama’ was augmented by the sound of intermittent light-aircraft engine noise heard overhead. Clear blue sky 18C.
