Wasps Allianz Cup kicks off against Bristol Bears

  • +1

The Allianz Cup kicks off for Wasps with a trip west to face Bristol Bears. With four debuts in the mix it’s set to be an exciting weekend in the Wasps camp.

Wasps are yet to face Bristol Bears this season, who currently sit top of the Allianz Premier 15s table. However, last week saw Bristol’s first loss of the season, suffering a 31-12 defeat to Gloucester Hartpury.

Acting as head coach for this week’s fixture, LJ Lewis has named her squad. With eight Wasps players currently away on international duty, this week’s team sees four Wasps debuts and three season debuts.

In the front row, Kerr will lead as Captain at hooker with Crake and Ransley either side of her. Cooney and Combebias form your second row with Caux and Searcy behind them on the flank. To complete the pack, Lydia Kerr will make her Wasps debut in the number eight shirt.

Nye returns to the squad for her season debut at nine with Rowland returning from injury to start outside her at ten. Williams will act as vice captain on the wing alongside debutant Emily Stone. Rose Brown will also make her first appearance on the field for Wasps at twelve with Cooksey outside her at 13. And, to complete the starting line up, Boatman will start at fullback.

The bench sees the return of Daniker Willmore to the Wasps Jersey alongside our final debutant Farrow acting as replacement front row. Also making for a strong finish to the game – Evans, Balogun and Burnfield complete your forwards replacements along with the experience of Wong and Dodd for the backs.

Tickets for this weekend’s fixture are available through Bristol Bears, so if you find yourself in the West Country come down and join us on the road!
